The firmest commitment, perhaps the only one that our new Prime Minister clearly made at the National Assembly - applauded by the far-right and the right - was to carry out the wishes of President Macron in nuclear matters. So, despite a period of financial weakness, France will perpetuate the nuclear arsenal, permanently "modernising" it at a cost that keeps on growing, and relaunch the nuclear power programme with 6 new EPR reactors. Our family, not being a mafia one, comprises in general people with diverse opinions, free to think, to act, to abstain or to vote according to their understanding. Besides, I know that my age - recently reaching 80 - confers on me no particular right to give instructions, for voting or other things. Nevertheless, allow me to express a grave concern that I have in the current situation where the National Assembly has been dissolved for a new election.

France signed on to the NPT (Non-Proliferation Treaty) in 1992, and is thereby required to negotiate with the other nuclear states the total and duly controlled elimination of their nuclear arms.
